After Black Friday Comes Small Business Saturday
The time-honored tradition of Black Friday following Thanksgiving Thursday has tagged on another event: Small Business Saturday.
After a full day of shopping at Best Buy, Macy’s, Toys R Us, or even over the Internet, Small Business Saturday is meant to be a day where we continue our shopping, but in support of our local Mom & Pop shops. I am thrilled to see the birth of this tradition! I have so many clients that are small business owners who have struggled in this difficult economy. Today, please boost your local economy, and buy your holiday gifts from your a local retailer. It creates jobs in your community, and keeps the money nearby, creating a self-supporting economy.
Even major players are supporting Small Business Saturday. American Express is offering $25 for registered card holders using their American Express cards at any independently owned small business today.
I plan on supporting a local merchants today by having breakfast at Lillie’s in Neptune Beach, going to Sivada’s Cupcakery, owned by Alex Davis, here in Jacksonville. Then I’m going to meet with a graphic arts student Jennifer Cone, from the University of North Florida to design my holiday cards. What are you going to do?
